FIRST WEEK: WHAT HAPPENED?
The first week of the rehearsal period (the period when the artists prepare the new show) at Wallmans is always thrilling. The artists reunite after the initial read-through and now have to practice nine show numbers in just four weeks. There are many thoughts and questions leading up to this period. Who will I actually be working with? What will happen this week? What can I expect? And "Oh my God, how scary!"
WHAT HAS HAPPENED THIS WEEK?
The first week has exceeded all expectations. Both the Wallmans artists, choreographers, kitchen staff, and producer have had their hands full. There is a lot to get in place for the premiere on August 23rd, but already we can see that this season is likely to be the best Wallmans Oslo has had in many, many years. The level of talent in this year’s ensemble is incredibly high – and everything is being raised a few notches.
The week began with a group meeting, a tour, and lunch. Then the artists divided into groups and started rehearsing our new AC/DC number with dancer and choreographer Andrea Ulvenstål (@andreaulvenstal) and artist Robin Blomgren (@robin_rio_blomgren) leading the way.
The artists have also had a round of costume fittings with our talented designer Karen Christoffersen (@KarenChristoffersen). They were measured and tried on what will eventually become the final costumes.
The first day of what we call the "Rehearsal Period" – and everyone is finally gathered again.
Emelie, Aleks, and Nathalie have occupied the dance studio for most of the week.
A little sneak peek at the costumes for this season.
Wow, what boots! These will be used in the AC/DC number.
Follow us on Instagram (@WallmansOslo) this week as well! The artists are now rehearsing our opening number, which is none other than The Greatest Showman. Yesterday, the administration had goosebumps up to their hairlines while watching.
This is going to be amazing!
