HELP, I’M IN CHARGE OF THE PARTY!
You’ve done it before and swore you’d never do it again: organizing a party. As the self-appointed head of the party committee at work, you’ve probably reached a point before, during, or after a party where you’ve thought, “Never again!” Why is that?
Is it the planning, decorating, and cleaning up the break room? All the time you spent figuring out the menu, planning surprises, downloading 150 party songs, and creating personalized place cards for your colleagues? Or was it buying tablecloths, decorations, lights, white wine, red wine, food, and snacks, and God knows what else?
Many of us have busy workdays, full schedules, a mountain of tasks waiting, and absolutely no time to organize the party that employees deserve, expect, and need. But as the designated party planner at work—whether you’re on the party committee, the manager, or working in HR—you’re expected to put in the time and effort to organize the party for your colleagues.
So how can you, as the party planner, most effectively, economically, and without compromising on the wow-factor you always strive for, throw a party with minimal effort?
Here are a few tips!
BIG AND SMALL PARTIES
I love parties, and I’ve spent countless days and hours organizing private events. As the managing director of Wallmans, I’ve learned a thing or two about what it takes to throw a successful party. At Wallmans, there’s a party (almost) every night! Big parties and small parties. Some people just want to take a few clients out for a nice dinner or celebrate an anniversary, while others organize big summer parties or kick-offs here.

Parties, Shows, and Entertainment
Wallmans Oslo excels at parties and celebrations.
What our clients find most exhausting and time-consuming about organizing a party is the same thing most people find tiring: planning. That’s why we have our own event producer (!) at Wallmans. He’s involved from the very start and knows exactly what it takes to create a successful party. It’s all about the details. For example, we know that the secret to a successful party starts even before the event venue. So when we host a party, we light the torches and roll out the red carpet on the bridge over the Akerselva. The event producer customizes the party or event according to the client’s wishes, but you can of course add your own or your company’s personal touch to the event. Maybe you want special place cards, a custom drink menu, or a thousand hot pink balloons? We can do that. Perhaps you just want a pleasant celebration with locally sourced, homemade food and a good glass of wine? Or are you planning to go all out with a spectacular show, award ceremony, lights and sound, and singing waitstaff? We can do that too.
And not least… We handle the cleanup.
When organizing a party, it’s easy for things to snowball. One thing leads to another, and suddenly the party becomes a lot more time-consuming and expensive than the budget allows. Renting a venue, sound system, catering, entertainment… It’s good to know that we have everything in-house—and if you’re concerned about cost, I’d dare say that an event at Wallmans is cheaper overall than organizing and renting everything externally.
Price is, of course, important, but almost all of our clients point out that what’s even more important about outsourcing the party arrangement to professionals like us is: Cleanup!
“One thing is arriving to a set table—that’s fantastic. But it’s even better to avoid the cleanup!!!” say our guests the next day.
I couldn’t agree more! The worst part of organizing a party and being solely responsible is cleaning up the day after! When the party is over, you’re sort of done… But cleaning up glasses, corks, confetti, and cigarette butts for days… No thanks! I’d rather skip the whole thing!
We wish you a great party, folks, and if you need help with the arrangement, you know where to find us!
